Published by admin October 27th, 2006 in Blog, events, campaignsWe are excited to announce we have a date for a Portland City Council to hearing for the resolution to bring the troops home from Iraq and fund local human needs!
City Council Hearing on Bring the Troops Home Resolution
Thursday, November 30, 2:00 PM
Portland City Hall
1221 SW 4th Ave. Portland
MFSO Oregon, American Friends Service Comittee Portland and other organizations have been working on this resolution which makes the link between the more than $407 million Portland taxpayers have spent on the war in Iraq and the lack of funding for vital human services. Commissioner Leonard has agreed to bring our resolution before council and we need your support to ensure its passage.
Here is what you can do to help:
1. Collect and turn in petition signatures in support of the campaign by Friday, November 24. To sign the petition online and to download paper petitions go to:
http://www.afsc.org/pacificnw/portland/budgets-for-peace-and-people.htm
2. Volunteer for phone banking evenings. We’ll need help to contact the more than 1,000 Portlanders who have signed the petition to the city council to encourage them to attend the hearing in support of the resolution. Stay tuned for phone banking dates. Please RSVP to Kelly Campbell at AFSC if you can help make calls.
3. Mark your calendar to attend the hearing! Thursday, November 30, 2:00 PM!
