Peace Vigil on the Bridges Sept. 23

Candlelight Vigil on the Bridges:
We Stand for Peace
Friday, September 23, 7:30-9:00pm
One evening last September, three of the main bridges into downtown Portland were lined with people holding candles, standing to bear witness for peace.
But the intervening year has not brought peace. Sorrow and grief are filling even more hearts, and our passion for peace burns even brighter. With violence and oppression on the rise, we invite you to join us for another candlelight Vigil on the Bridges, Saturday, September 23 to affirm our commitment to another way.
Our message is clear
The focus of our vigil is the clear and simple message: we stand for peace here and now. Not one more day of killing, not one more dollar for death dealing, not one more life wasted in violence for anyone’s agenda.
Whether a dozen, a hundred, or a thousand of us gather, Living Earth is calling the community to once again stand side by side declaring peace — peace with each other, peace with our neighbors, peace with our brothers and sisters everywhere, and peace with our planet.
Like last year, this will be a simple action without speakers, no marches and chanting, just quiet friendship, twilight reflection, and many, many candles burning bright in the shared intention to live for peace.
Join us on both the east side and west side of the river, to line the Morrison and Hawthorne Bridges and the Waterfront and Esplanade, linking them in a circle of peace.
We Stand for Peace!
