Take Action: Operation Housecall
Published by admin July 24th, 2006 in Blog, campaigns
With the health of our troops and of our nation at risk, Military Families Speak Out (MFSO) is launching a Operation House Call in Washington, DC, demanding action from our elected representatives and calling on them to bring our troops home now. We are standing outside their offices in Washington, DC and calling on them to stop playing politics with the lives of our loved ones and the loved ones of others - to Bring Our Troops Home Now and Take Care of Them When They Get Here. Read the press release launching Operation House Call or read the ongoing blog entries of those doing lobbying.
Operation House Call is a daily vigil of military families in Washington DC. Each day from June 22 - August 4th that Congress is in session, members of Military Families Speak Out will stand across from the Capitol, at the corner of New Jersey and Independence Avenues, with combat boots representing US troops and shoes representing Iraqis who have died since June 15, 2006 - the day Congress voted to “stay the course” in Iraq and the day the 2,500th troop death occured. MFSO members will also visit the offices of Senators and Members of Congress. When Congress goes on recess on August 4th, military families will continue to pressure their Senators and Representatives in their home states and districts.
